DNR RULE CHANGE
I have been talking to Jeff B. of the DNR and he said they have a new rule that says the distance limits for grocery stores has changed from being 3 miles to 1 mile. Redemption centers must now be within 1 mile of a store in order for the grocery to be exempt from accepting cans.
This makes it harder for stores to be exempt from accepting cans. With so few centers in each county this makes it almost impossible for a redemption center to be approved as a designated center for most stores.
Also he said they are talking about making all redemption centers send pictures of both the inside and out of their centers. To make sure they can not only handle large volumes but also to show whether or not customers and employees are working in a safe environment.
